Southwind's second game in 4 days had an even more thrilling ending than the previous one. On Friday it took a 65 yd TD pass from Darian Cole to Chris Gatewood with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game to give the Jaguars the come from behind win 28-23 over the Germantown Red Devils. Maybe that prepared them for the finish of this one but I doubt it.
Cole hit SR Jimmy Keys with only 18 seconds remaining on the clock with a touchdown pass that was deflected by the Mustangs defense to give the Jaguars a stunning 50-45 comeback. Southwind trailed 42-22 when the fourth quarter started and were down 45-28 with about 7 minutes left in the game.
Cole had 6 touchdown passes on the night to lead Southwind. QB Jared Schmidt rushed for 3 touchdowns for the Mustangs and RB Malik Elion scored twice including on a 90 yd kickoff return.
