Game recaps for the week of September 26

Whitehaven 34 Ridgeway 30

Game recaps for week of September 12

Whitehaven 15 Central 12

This was a match-up of two undefeated teams and district opponents and it wasn't settled until the final 90 seconds of the game. Jordan Williams hit Kerrick Jones from 13 yds out with 1:27 remaining to give Whitehaven the win. The ensuing extra point was blocked and left the door open for the Warriors to drive down the field and get a game-tying field goal but Tigers sophomore DB Jabril Mabone knocked down a pass with less than 20 seconds left to enable Whitehaven to breathe a little easier. Williams finished 12-17 for 139 yds to go along with the touchdown while Jones had 9 catches for 84. QB Deddrick Thomas had 127 yds rushing and 2 TD's on 22 carries for the Warriors. Head coach Rodney Saulsberry earned his 100th win at Whitehaven with the victory.

Game recaps for Sept 4,5,6

MUS 33 Canton McKinley (OH) 20

Meet Colton Neel. A mild-mannered running back who doubles as a touchdown machine for the MUS Owls. Last year he led the Shelby Metro area with 24 rushing touchdowns (26 total) before having his year end prematurely due to injury. Neel gave the crowd at historic Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio a little taste of what he is able to do by rushing for 4 touchdowns and 148 yds on 29 carries and catching a TD pass to lead the Owls to the win. QB Marcus Evans rushed for 110 yds and threw for 106 yds and a TD. The Owls "D" was up to the task with Thomas Pickens intercepting 2 passes and Peyton Jones had 4 pass break ups in addition to holding Ohio State commitment Eric Glover-Williams to just 39 yds rushing on 13 carries.

Contact the person that does stats for your school and have them e-mail them to us at shelbymetrosports@gmail.com. You can also have them call the show on Friday nights between 930-11 pm on Sports 56 and 87.7 FM and give us a report as well.
