Week 6 Recaps

MUS 24 CBHS 14

This high profile matchup before a standing room only crowd went the way of the Owls. MUS led 10-7 at the half on the strength of their D which allowed only 83 yds-41 coming on one Ramadi Warren TD run. MUS SR QB Jordan Rodgers threw 2 TD passes in the third quarter-both to JR Devin Perry of 11 & 54 yds. Perry finished with 5 catches for 104 yds while Rodgers was 16-36 for 230 yds. CBHS JR QB Breck Ruddick was 18-36 for 201 yds and added a rushing TD as well. SR WR Anthony Miller caught 8 balls for 90 yds for the Purple Wave. MUS is 5-2 (1-0) and will play St. Benedict on Oct. 12 while CBHS is 5-1 (0-1) and will play ECS next.





BTW 24 MAHS 21

Warrior QB Patrick Franklin had 3 TD's on the night & none was more important than the last. Franklin's 6 yd run in the 4th quarter gave BTW the win. The Warriors led 18-6 after 3 only to have the Lions take the lead with two 4th quarter TD's. In addition to his game winning TD, Franklin was 8-21 passing for 143 yds and 2 TD's. MAHS QB LaMarien Watkins had 2 TD's as well finishing 17-28 for 221 yds. Darius Wooden had 6 catches for 85 yds and Marquez Lanton caught 5 for 92 yds for the Lions. BTW is now 2-5 overall, 1-1 in district play & will play Kingsbury next while MAHS is 2-5 overall and 1-2 in district play and will play Lancaster Christian.


Houston 38 Overton 14

Overton led 7-0 before Walker Lamberth took over for the Mustangs. Houston scored 38 unanswered en route to the win & the junior QB was a big reason why. Lamberth threw for 1 TD & ran for 222 yds on only 8 carries with TD's of 49 and 81. Wolverines SR WR Ashton Cooper had a solid game in defeat, catching 4 passes for 112 yds and TD's of 25 and 79. Houston is 5-1 overall and 3-0 in district play and will play Ridgeway next while Overton is 1-5 overall and 0-3 and will play Collierville next.

Briarcrest 28 ECS 27

This one was well worth the price of admission and it came down to the final seconds before the Saints could breathe a little easier and stay unbeaten. ECS scored on a hook and ladder play with just 7 seconds left to make it a 1 point game. The Eagles then faked the kick and went for the 2 pt conversion and the win but Saints SO DB Ben Ellis knocked it away & Briarcrest escaped with the win. For the Saints, JR QB BJ Nagle had 3 TD's-1 rushing and 2 passing & finished 7-19 for 114 yds. JR WR Kenneth Nichols caught 4 passes for 99 yds and both of those TD's. ECS SR QB Brent Rooker had 3 TD's as well-1 rushing & 2 passing and Rooker finished 18-28 for 295 yds passing & had 18 carries for 79 yds rushing. Eagles SR WR Trace Williams caught 7 passes for 68 yds and a TD while JR Cole Heotis caught 3 for 70 yds and a TD and JR WR Preston Parrish had 3 catches for 96 yds. Briarcrest is 7-0 and will play White Station next while ECS is 3-3 & will play CBHS next.



Germantown 35 Collierville 7

The Red Devils rolled up over 400 yds of total offense & cruised to the win in this rivalry game vs the Dragons. SR's Damon Cox & Justin Roberson each scored twice to lead Germantown. Roberson led a balanced ground attack with 92 yds on just 11 carries, JR QB Wesley Dacus had 88 yds on 9 carries and Cox finished with 22 carries for 81 yds. Germantown is 4-2 (3-0) and will play Southwind next while Collierville is 2-4 (0-3) and will play Overton next.


USJ 34 Fayette Academy 14

The Vikings kept it close for 3 quarters before USJ scored twice with 2 TD's in the 4th to put the game away. SR RB Marcus Miller had 18 carries for 133 yds and a 78 yd TD in defeat for the Vikings. Fayette Academy is now 5-2 (1-2) and will play Rossville Christian on Oct. 12.

Bolton 41 Bartlett 6

THe Wildcats offense was clicking on all cylinders in this rivalry game totaling over 400 yds of total offense in the win. After the Panthers' Robert Wingo gave them an early 6-0 lead on a 23 yd run, Bolton responded with 41 unanswered. SR RB Brandon Henderson had 16 carries for 145 yds and 2 TD's while Aavion Ferguson returned a punt 90 yds for a score. Bolton is 4-3 (1-2) and will play Dyer Co next while Bartlett is 0-7 (0-3) and will play Ripley next.

South Panola 28 Olive Branch 14

The winning streak is over at 20. The vistors from down the road in Batesville physically dominated both lines of scrimmage en route to the win. South Panola rushed for 236 yds while holding the Conquistadors to just 36 yds. Olive Branch QB Josh Cooley was 7-15 for 76 yds with a rushing TD while their other QB, Sam Craft, had a TD pass before exiting with an injury. Olive Branch is now 5-1 (1-1) and will play DeSoto Central next.

Whitehaven 41 Hamilton 6

The new artificial turf at Whitehaven Stadium was christened with an exceptional defensive effort from the home team. The Tigers held Hamilton to just 54 yds of total offense and got a 28 yd fumble recovery for a TD by SR DL Andra Smith. 5 different Tigers scored led by Mark Dodson who had 2 TD's and 117 yds rushing. Whitehaven is 7-0 (3-0) and will play Melrose on Oct. 11 and Hamilton is 3-3 (1-2) and will play Frayser next.

North Little Rock 42 West Memphis 0

The Blue Devils made the trip to the middle of the state and returned home with nothing to show for it. NLR scored in every quarter and the West Memphis offense could not get untracked on the night. West Memphis is now 3-2 (0-2) and will play Little Rock Central next.

Millington 31 Cordova 3

The Trojans got 118 yds rushing and 2 TD's out of SR RB Antonio Webber on the way to the victory. JR WR Lakeron Garcia caught 2 passes for 80 yds including a 63 yd TD. Millington is now 4-2 (3-0) and will play Trezevant next while Cordova is 0-6 (0-3) and will play Jackson North Side next.



St. George's 56 Tipton Rosemark 3

The Gryphons remained one of the area's unbeaten teams as they scored early and often. St. George's led 21-3 after 1 and 49-3 at the half. JR QB Dean Brown was perfect on the night going 11-11 for 152 yds and 2 TD's. SR Matt Thomson caught 5 of those for 85 yds and 2 TD's while rushing for a TD as well. SR RB Chandler Loy had 83 yds rushing and 2 TD's and returned an interception 33 yds for a score as well. St. George's is now 7-0 (3-0) and will play USJ on Oct. 12 while Tipton Rosemark is 1-5 (0-3) and will play Middleton next.

Sheffield 42 Hillcrest 7

It was the Terrance Dixon show for the Knights in the win. Dixon had 4 TD's & 113 yds rushing on the night as Sheffield had over 300 yds of total offense. Sheffield is now 3-4 (2-1) & will play Oakhaven on Oct. 12 while Hillcrest is 3-3 (2-1) & will play Oakhaven next.

Arlington 35 Craigmont 27

The Tigers fell behind 20-7 before rallying for the victory. Arlington scored 28 unanswered points to secure the win in their first game since losing QB Drew Reed to a broken collarbone. JR Hunter Sheffield, making his 1st varsity start at QB, threw for 142 yds and 2 TD's-1 to Justin Boring and 1 to Omari Hampton. SR RB Walter Crutchfield had a big night for the Chiefs. Crutchfield caught a TD pass while rushing for 223 yds and a TD. Arlington is now 5-2 (3-0) and will play St. Benedict next while Craigmont is 4-2 (2-1) and will play Raleigh Egypt next.

Harding Academy 35 FACS 6

The Lions had over 350 yds of total offense as they get back on the winning track. SR Michael Carr led a balanced ground attack with 3 scores & SR Christian Enochs rushed for a TD and threw for one as well. Enochs had 74 yds rushing on 11 carries and was 15-20 for 111 yds passing. Carr had 83 yds on 16 carries and SO Carliss Settles had 70 yds on just 6 carries. JR RB Kortney Morris had a 79 yd kick return for a TD for the Crusaders. Harding Academy is now 5-2 (2-1) and will play Bishop Byrne on Oct. 12 while FACS is 3-4 (1-2) and will play USJ next.

Westwood 53 Northside 6

The Longhorns exploded for over 600 yds of total offense in the victory that also saw the return of SR QB Jerome Gilkey. Gilkey, who suffered a broken arm earlier in the season, was 9-10 passing for 157 yds and 2 TD's. Troy Davis had 4 TD's on the night, three on the ground and one receiving. Davis had 88 yds rushing and 87 receiving. Tevin Reid had 2 TD's to go with his 137 yds rushing on jut 7 carries. Gilkey's only incompletion was an interception that was returned by the Cougars' DB Robert Anderson 38 yds for a TD. It was the first points scored by Northside this year. Westwood is now 6-1 (3-0) and will play Fairley next while Northside is 0-7 (0-2) and will play Hillcrest next.

White Station 56 Melrose 13

The Spartans hit the ground running & never looking back. It was 28-7 after 1 and 49-7 at the half. SR Donald Gray had 4 TD's in the game-3 rushing & 1 receiving while catching 4 balls for 74 yds. JR Eldridge Thompson caught 5 passes for 110 yds and 2 TD and also returned an interception 51 yds for a score. JR QB Cedric Wilson was 10-14 for 194 yds and 2 TD's and scored once on the ground as well. Golden Wildcat SO QB Jonathan Johnson had a TD pass and returned a kickoff 90 yds for a score. White Station is now 2-4 (1-2) and will play Briarcrest next while Melrose is 0-7 (0-2) and will play East next.

SBEC 54 Bishop Byrne 12

You can't stop PK Pearson, You can only hope to contain him. The SR QB had 6 TD's (4 passing, 2 rushing) on the night to lead the Trojans to the victory. Pearson was 17-22 for 328 yds. JR WR Grant Kimberlin caught 8 of those for 138 yds and a TD while rushing for a score as well. JR WR Samuel Kail had 3 catches for 112 yds and a TD. For the Red Knights, JR George Williams had 2 TD's and 109 yds passing. SBEC is 3-3 (1-1) and will play ECS on Oct. 11 while Bishop Byrne is 0-5 (0-2) and will play Rossville Christian next.

Ridgeway 47 Wooddale 8

The Roadrunners hit the Cardinals with a 27 point left in the 1st quarter and followed it up with a 20 point right in the 2nd. SO QB Braxton Conard was 5-6 passing for 87 yds and 3 TD's while SR RB Orlando Johnson continued his spectacular year with 14 carries for 212 yds and 3 TD's. Ridgeway is now 4-2 (3-0) and will play Houston next while Wooddale is 1-5 (0-3) & will play Kirby next.

Mitchell 52 Oakhaven 0

The Mitchell D responded in a big way following their first loss of the year last week. The Tigers held the Hawks to only 32 yds of total offense & JR Raphael Johsnon recovered a fumble for a TD. 7 different Tigers scored and SO QB Tamadreus Trezevant was 8-13 passing for 111 yds and a TD. Mitchell is not 6-1 (3-0) and will play Carver on Oct. 11 while Oakhaven is 0-7 (0-3) and will play Hillcrest next.

Fairley 56 Carver 0

Big plays and a dominate D highlighted the Fairley victory. The Bulldog D held the Cobras to just 21 yds of total offense & returned 2 interceptions for TD. Fairley had scoring plays of 50,54,70,90 and 90. SR Dominque Smith carried the ball 10 times for 210 yds & 2 TD and returned a kick 90 yds for a score. SR DD Guy returned an interception for a TD while JR Jaylun Underwood had a 70 yd reception for a TD & returned an interception 50 yds for a score. Fairley is 5-2 (2-1) and will play Westwood next while Carver is 0-6 (0-3) and will play Brighton next.

Trezevant 30 Manassas 24 (OT)

In a game that featured plenty of offense, it was a defensive play that set up the game winning TD. The Bears defense forced and recovered a Manassas fumble in OT and SR LeMarcus Stewart scored his 2nd TD of the game to give Trezevant the win. The Bears had jumped out to a 16-0 lead before Manassas answered with 3 straight TD's to lead 18-16 at the half. Stewart's first TD of the night was a 78 yd punt return that gave his team the lead at 24-18. Melvin Bond scored twice and QB Jordan Pegues threw 2 TD passes for the Tigers. Trezevant is 5-1 (3-0) and will play Millington next while Manassas is 4-2 (2-1) and will play Central next.

Brighton 56 Munford 33

Blink and you probably missed something in this shootout. Brighton had almost 700 yds of total offense in this one and there were plenty of outstanding individual performances as well for both teams. For the Cardinals, QB Brady Stewart was 21-38 for 507 yds and 3 TD's. RB Antonio Dickerson had 142 yds rushing and 5 TD while Artez Harris caught 9 passes for 259 yds and 2 TD's. For the Cougars QB Hunter Harden was 20-39 for 294 yds and 3 TD's. RB D'Marius Exum had 120 yds rushing and a TD. WR TJ Plymouth had 7 catches for 120 yds and a TD while WR Antonio Moore caught 4 passes for 77 yds and 2 TD's. Brighton is now 3-3 (1-1) and will play Carver next while Munford is 4-3 (1-2) and will play Jackson North Side Oct. 12.
