Week 4 Recaps

Olive Branch 43 MUS 33

The Conquistadors stunned the MUS faithful with a 29 point 4th quarter to keep their unbeaten streak at 18. Olive Branch trailed 26-14 after 3 and also 33-29 with 3 minutes left in the game. Sam Craft's 3rd rushing TD of the night put OB up to stay and Jamil Collins 35 yd INT return for a TD accounted for the final points. Craft was spectacular in leading his team to victory, finishing with 154 yds on 25 carries. Craft was also 10-17 for 203 yds and a TD through the air with Byrekus Payne catching 6 of those passes for 147 yds and a TD. SR QB Aaron Rodgers continued his solid play for the Owls. Rodgers was 26-45 for 326 yds and 4 TD's. JR WR Devin Perry caught 8 of those passes for 112 yds and a TD. Olive Branch is now 4-0 and will play Southaven next. MUS is 3-2 and will take on East.


Houston 33 Wooddale 12 


The Mustangs raced out to an early lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Houston led 24-0 at the half and 33-0 with 9:45 left in the game while the Houston D held the Cardinals to 16 yds rushing in the game and rushed for 223 of their own. They were led by JR RB Marquis Marshall who finished with 22 carries for 113 yds and a TD. SR RB Chris Cage had 82 yds on just 14 carries while SR RB Sam Jacobs had 2 TD's. JR K CJ Stafford had 2 FG's in the game, one of them from 40 yds. Houston is now 3-1 and will play Raleigh Egypt next while Wooddale is 1-4 and will play Ridgeway on Sept. 27.


Mitchell 14 Sheffield 13

The Tigers were able to stay unbeaten on the year but it certainly wasn't easy. Despite turning the ball over seven times in the game, Mitchell came back. With 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter, Sheffield led 13-0. Despite throwing 5 interceptions in the game, QB Tamardreus Trezevant threw the game winning TD pass in the 4th quarter to give the Tigers the victory. Mitchell is now 5-0 and will play Craigmont next. Sheffield is 1-4 and will play Melrose next.

Ridgeway 55 Kirby 21

The Roadrunners continue to pile up the yards and the points as they cruised to the win. Ridgeway had over 400 yds rushing and 531 yds of total offense. RB Orlando Johnson led the way with 191 yds and 3 TD's. QB Braxton Conard was 7-16 for 121 yds and 2 TD's passing and ran for a TD as well. 6 different Roadrunners scored on the night. Ridgeway is now 3-2 and will play Wooddale on Sept. 27. Kirby is 1-3 and will play Fairley next.

Fairley 62 Oakhaven 0

Dominique Smith had another big game for the 2nd straight week to lead the Bulldogs to the win. Smith finished with 150 yds rushing and 3 TD's while QB Thurston Rubin had 4 TD passes, 3 of them to Hollis Carpenter. Fairley is now 3-2 and will play Kirby next. Oakhaven is 0-5 and will play Westwood next.

East 35 Hamilton 6

Antonio Clifton continues his impressive season to lead the Mustangs to victory. Clifton came into the game with 661 yds rushing and 6 TD through 4 games added 135 yds and 3 more TD's in the win. In a year filled with defensive touchdowns, Hamilton's Gary Childs picked off a pass and returned it 79 yds for the score. East is now 3-2 and will play MUS next. Hamilton is 2-3 and will play Whitehaven on Sept 28.

Jackson North Side 44 Brighton 34

Antonio Dickerson put on a show for the home crowd but it wasn't enough to lead the Cardinals to victory. Dickerson finished with 25 carries for 217 yds and 4 TD's and caught 5 passes for 76 yds and a TD as well. QB Brady Stewart was 24-35 for 239 yds while WR Artez Harris caught 9 passes for 113 yds. Jackson North Side QB Adam Craig was spectacular in leading his team to the win. Craig had 22 carries for 157 yds and 2 TD and 20-28 for 255 yds and 4 TD's. Brighton is now 1-3 and will play Millington next.

Arlington 46 Bartlett 7

This was a 10-7 game at the half before Arlington ran off 36 unanswered points to pull away. Once again it was SR QB Drew Reed at the forefront of the offensive surge. Reed was 23-33 for 450 yds passing and 3 TD's while scoring twice more on the ground. SR WR Justin Boring hauled in 8 of those passes for 202 yds and 2 scores while SR WR Omari Hampton had 5 receptions for 101 yds and a TD. Bartlett SR RB Joshua Hall had a big night for the Panthers with 35 carries for 214 yds and a 60 yd TD. Arlington is 4-1 and will play Briarcrest next. Bartlett is 0-5 and will play Dyer Co next.

West Memphis 30 Pulaski Academy 21

The Blue Devils trailed at the half and after 3 before outscoring their opponent 17-7 in the 4th quarter to get the victory. RB Jarvis Cooper's 2nd TD of the night and ensuing 2 pt conversion tied things up. Cooper finished the night with 24 carries for 109 yds and for good measure added 8 tackles for loss and 5 sacks and a safety on defense. West Memphis then added a Kody Frasure to DeAnferee Davis 23 yd TD pass to put the game away. Frasure finished 6-10 for 146 yds on the night. West Memphis is now 3-0 and will play Jonesboro next.

Lewisburg 56 Independence 6

The Patriots overwhelmed their opponent on the defensive side of the ball en route to the win. Lewisburg held Independence to 19 yds of total offense and scored on a fumble recovery, a blocked punt return and a safety. The Patriots were up 34-0 after 1 quarter and never looked back. Xavier Morris and Chris Taylor each scored 2 TD's while K Matt Bratton had 12 points of his own on 6 XP's and 2 FG's. Lewisburg is now 4-1 and will play Byhalia next.

Rossville Christian 39 Tipton Rosemark 16

The Wolves broke open a close game at the half on the way to their first win of the year and JR QB Tinsley Heston was a big reason why. Heston had 21 carries for 194 yds and 3 TD's on the ground and he threw 2 TD passes as well. Rossville Christian had 337 yds rushing on the night. Rossville Christian is now 1-3 on the year and will play Potts Camp, MS next while Tipton Rosemark is 1-3 and will play FACS next.

Whitehaven 31 White Station 30 (3 OT)

The other high profile game of the night was a barnburner as well. The Tigers were able to stay unbeaten when a botched snap prevented the Spartans from sending the game into a fourth overtime. Whitehaven trailed early 14-0 before Mark Dodson took over. Dodson's 80 yd TD run in the 2nd quarter got the Tigers on the board and his 47 yd TD run tied the game in the 3rd quarter. He then scored TD's in the 2nd and 3rd overtime sessions to put his team in position to win. Dodson, an Ole Miss commitment, finished with 291 yds rushing on the night. Whitehaven is now 5-0 and will play Central next. White Station is 2-3 and will play Melrose on Sept. 28.

St. George's 36 Fayette Academy 7

Both teams were unbeaten coming into the game and the Gryphons scored early and often to keep their record unblemished. It was 14-0 after 1 and 30-0 at halftime as St. George's had over 400 yds of total offense for the game. SR all purpose athlete Matt Thomson did a little of everything. Thomson scored twice via the ground, was 1-1 passing for 16 yds and caught 10 passes for 116 yds. Chandler Loy added 125 yds on the ground for the Gryphons and QB Dean Brown was 14-23 for 176 yds with 1 TD rushing in the game. Fayette Academy SO QB Alex Smith was 7-12 for 140 yds and a TD. St. George's is 5-0 and will play Harding Academy next. Fayette Academy is 4-1 and will play Bishop Byrne next.

Westwood 27 MAHS 0

The Longhorns used the big play en route to the win. 3 of the 4 TD's that Westwood scored in the game came on plays on 52, 78 and 82. The Longhorns had 536 yds of total offense on the night. SR RB Tevin Reid had 188 yds on 15 carries and 2 TD's. SO RB Zephaniah Young had 198 yds on 12 carries while SO QB Ri'Chard Broadnax was 7-10 for 198 yds and 2 TD's. Westwood is now 4-1 and will play Oakhaven next. MAHS is 1-4 and will play Carver next.

Harding Academy 31 SBEC 6

The Lions defense was pretty good Friday night and SR QB Chad Parker was almost perfect on the other side of the ball. Harding Academy held the Trojans to 97 yds of total offense in the game while Parker was 14-16 passing for 250 yds and 4 TD's. SR WR David Allen caught 9 of those for 140 yds and a TD while SR WR Christian Enochs caught 8 passes for 134 yds and 2 TD's. Harding Academy is 4-1 and will play St. George's next while SBEC is 2-2 and will play USJ next.

Millington 35 Bolton 6

Another QB with a pretty good night was SR Alan Moore in leading the Trojans to the victory. Moore was 11-21 for 216 yds and 5 TD's which is a school record. Moore was pressed into duty last week when starting QB Nick Hunt went down with an injury. JR WR Lakeron Garcia had another stellar night for the 2nd week in a row. Garcia followed up his 4 catches for 201 yds and a TD last week with 5 catches for 140 yds and 3 TD's in this one. Bolton SR WR Aavion Ferguson had 4 catches for 106 yds and a TD to lead the Wildcats. Millington is now 3-1 and will play Brighton next while Bolton is 2-3 and will play Frayser next.

Manassas 18 Frayser 0

The Tigers were stout on D en route to the shutout win. They held the Rams to 76 yds of total offense and scored on a 22 yd fumble recovery by Dwayne Clark as well. SR RB Melvin Bond finished the night with 109 yds rushing on just 12 carries and 2 TD's. Manassas is 41 and will play Trezevant on Sept 28 while Frayser is 2-2 and will play Bolton next.

ECS 41 FACS 7

The Eagles scored 35 unanswered to start this one and never looked back. SR QB Brent Rooker had another productive night for ECS. Rooker was 10-16 passing for 159 yds and 3 TD's and rushed 7 times for 65 yds and a TD as well. ECS is now 2-2 and will play JCS next while FACS is 2-3 and will play Tipton Rosemark next.

Briarcrest 41 St. Benedict 31

Another game with a team in the 4th quarter scoring a lot of points to come from behind to get the win. The Saints trailed 31-21 with 10:52 left in the game after St. Benedict SR RB Jordan Wilkins scored his 4th TD of the game. Briarcrest score 20 points in the last 8 minutes of the game in the comeback victory. Wilkins, an Auburn commitment, finished the game with 40 carries for 238 yds and 4 TD's. JR QB BJ Nagle had 180 yds passing and 2 TD's and added 3 more TD's on the ground for the Saints. JR WR Kenneth Echols had another big night as well. 1 week ago, Echols caught 5 passes for 200 yds and 3 TD's in the first half. He had 6 catches for 128 yds and a TD in this one. Briarcrest is now 5-0 and will play Arlington next while St. Benedict is 2-2 and will play JCM next.

Southwind 36 Collierville 35 (2 OT)

Play for a tie at home and the win on the road. Southwind took this lesson to heart in this double overtime thriller at Collierville. SR QB Darius Henderson hit FR Tyler Brewer with the winning 2 pt conversion in the second overtime to give the Jaguars the win. Henderson had one heck of a game. He was 33-58 for 366 yds, 4 TD's and 2 2 pt conversions. SR WR Jimmy Keys caught 10 of those for 122 yds and 2 TD's while SR WR Justin Kelly caught 7 for 124 yds and a TD. Collierville SO WR Drew Van de Vurst had 6 catches for 110 yds and 2 TD's and returned a punt 56 yds for a TD as well. JR QB Clay Casey was 14-28 for 193 yds and 2 TD's and added 13 carries for 96 yds and a TD on the ground. Southwind is now 4-1 and will play Kirby on Sept. 28 while Collierville is 2-2 and will play CBHS next.

Germantown 31 Overton 14

Overton jumped out to a 14-0 lead but the Red Devils came roaring back to get the win. Germantown tied the game in the 3rd and followed that up with a 17 pt 4th quarter. The Red Devils rushed for over 350 yds in the game. They were led by Justin Roberson who had 11 carries for 195 yds and a TD while Damon Cox had 89 yds and a TD as well. Wolverine QB Darius Boone had a nice game in defeat. Boone was 9-18 passing for 194 yds and 2 TD's and had 12 carries for 68 yds on the ground. Germantown is now 2-2 and will play Kingsbury next while Overton is 1-4 and will play Houston on Sept. 28.

Covington 49 Crockett Co 20

SR RB Johnston White and the Covington offense continue to dominate the opposition. The Chargers rushed for over 500 yds for the second time this season to get the win in this battle of unbeatens. White finished the night with only 17 carries but he totaled 401 yds and 4 TD's and he caught a TD pass as well. White had over 2,000 yds last year to lead the Chargers to the 4A semifinals and is well on his way this year. Covington is now 5-0 and will play Gibson Co. on Sept. 28.
