Observations from playoffs, (2nd round in TN, 1st round of ARK & MS)
1) Obviously, home field is important all the time but it wasn't as important in the 2nd round of the TN playoffs. In the first round 80% of the teams with HFA won and in the 2nd round, that number fell to 65%. Arkansas first round games in 6A were a wash with home teams only winning 50% of the time. Teams in both classifications (5A & 6A) in Mississippi dominated with HFA by going a combined 14-2 in the first round.
2) After a first round that saw teams with losing records go 7-42 in TN, 3 of those teams won again and have advanced to the next round.
3) There weren't a lot of competitive games once again regardless of which state was involved.

Here are the rosters for the 18th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl High School All Star Game
The 18th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl High School All-Star Game presented by ARS/Conway Services and the Tennessee Highway Safety Office will feature the top high school seniors representing Shelby County Schools and private schools in the Memphis area. Each player was selected on the basis of his character, his on and off-field achievements and his classroom performance.
Six semi-finalists for the state of Tennessee’s Mr. Football Award are among this year’s All-Star Game participants: linebacker Bryson Eason from Whitehaven High School, offensive/defensive lineman Omari Thomas from Briarcrest Christian School, running back Jabari Small from Briarcrest Christian School, linebacker/fullback Austin Hill from Evangelical Christian School, running back Terry Wilkins of Fairley High School and running back Lincoln Pare from Houston High School.
Eason led a formidable Whitehaven defense with 63 tackles during the regular season and is committed to the University of Tennessee. Thomas is the anchor of the Briarcrest offensive and defensive lines and is one of the top lineman recruits in the country. Small is committed to Ole Miss and rushed for 1,377 yards and 22 touchdowns during the regular season for Briarcrest. Hill, who is committed to Army, recorded 61 total tackles and 23 tackles for loss during the regular season for ECS. Wilkins scored 15 touchdowns while amassing 967 rushing yards for Fairley during the regular season. Pare led the area in rushing yards with 2,102 and scored 25 touchdowns in the regular season for Houston.
Gene Robinson, the head coach at Fairley High School, will coach the Red Team and Preston Harris head coach Douglass High School will lead the Blue Team. “With these two outstanding head coaches leading the teams and the abundance of talent that will be featured in the game, we will continue the tradition of excellence the All-Star Game has established over the past seventeen years,” said Steve Ehrhart, Executive Director of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

Observations from opening round of Tennessee playoffs
1) Home field advantage is SOOOOOO important. Teams with HFA were 86-22.
2) 5 #1 seeds were eliminated including 1 in 1A that was 10-0. There were 2 in 3A & 2 in 5A as well
3) 48 teams with losing records made it into this year's postseason. Their record in the first round was 7-42 (one game both teams had losing records). There were 10 shutouts in these games and 33 times one of the teams was held to a touchdown or less. The average score of these games was 41-8.
4) There weren't a lot of close games. Out of the 108 games, only 15 were decided by 7 pts or less.
Here is a chart with a number of different things to check out. There were 16 games (32 teams) in 1A-6A & D2AA. There were only 4 games (8 teams) in D2A.
