Johnson Fired at Cordova
William Johnson who was
suspended pending a Memphis City schools internal investigation for
playing an ineligible player at the jamboree in August has been fired.
"William Johnson has been relieved of his coaching duties at Cordova
but is still a teacher there," Memphis City Schools Media Relations
Manager Stefani Everson said.
"He played an ineligible student athlete in a football jamboree and the student had not yet enrolled at Cordova,"
Johnson has a 69-62 overall record with head coaching stops at
Hillcrest (2008-2010), Marshall County (2005-07) and Stratford
(2000-04).
"We are currently in the process of hiring a new head coach," Cordova Athletic Director Brad Barnett said.
The Wolves went 4-6 in 2011 but fell to 1-9 this season under an interim coach
