It was an opportunity that Greg Wallace couldn't pass up.

Wallace has been hired as the new head football coach at Southern Baptist Educational Center.

He replaces Brad Kimberlin who resigned in January to pursue other opportunities.

Kimberlin posted a 13-9 record and the Trojans made the Division II-A playoffs both seasons under his guidance.

The Trojans are coming off a 4-6 season in 2012, after having a 9-3 season in 2011 a year that saw SBEC make the Quarterfinals.

It will be Wallace's first head coaching job.

"I hope to build a football program that is known as much for the Christian leaders we graduate as for the wins and losses," Wallace said. "I can't explain how grateful and humbled I am by this opportunity, not just for me but for my family."

Wallace was the offensive coordinator at DeSoto Central (MS) last season and the Jaguars made the Class 4A playoffs.

Before coming to DeSoto he was at Horn Lake (MS) for six years and served as the Offensive Coordinator three of those years.

Wallace wants to get the Trojans back to winning championships as they did in 2003 as they won the Division II-A title.
