Players from Bristol to Memphis will represent teams competing in this year's seventh annual Toyota East/West All-Star Classic scheduled for Friday, December 13 at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. Kickoff for this year's game is slated for 7 o'clock CST at Tucker Stadium.

East Hamilton's Ted Gatewood will serve as head coach of the East squad and Jeff Porter of White House will handle similar duties for the West team.

"We are extremely excited about the young men who have been selected to represent these two teams and expect a great week of activities in Cookeville," said Bill Marbet, Executive Director of the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association, the organization that coordinates the annual event.

:These players have had exceptional high school careers and many will continue their athletic careers next year at the college level. Several will no doubt also be playing in the BlueCross Bowl next week, hoping to add a state championshp to their resume," he continued.

Players are nominated by their high school coaches from all across the state, then selected by the coaching staffs for the game. They represent large and small high schools, both public and private.

The 88 players and more than a dozen coaches involved in the game will arrive in Cookeville on Tuesday evening, December 10. Two-a-day practice sessions are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday prior to Friday's game.

This year players will also participate in a football combine. Officials at Elite Athletic Events will put players through multiple training stations that include the bench press, vertical leap and 40-yd dash, as well as various agility drills.

DOTSON RESIGNS AT RALEIGH EGYPT

According to our friend Donovan Stewart (follow him on Twitter @Examine_Stew), there will be a new head coach at Raleigh Egypt.

James Dotson who coached Raleigh Egypt this season to a 1-9 record has resigned due to health concerns according to Pharoah Principal Michael Bailey.

"Coach Dotson did a good job but due to some medical issues, he has resigned and we will be in the market for a new coach," Bailey said.

Raleigh Egypt defeated Sheffield for their only win of the year after making the Class 4A playoffs in 2012.

Sheffield defeated Raleigh Egypt in the playoffs in 2012.

The last winning season for the Pharaohs was back in 2004 when they went 7-5.
